Our stoba location in Brno is young, dedicated, full of innovative ideas

stoba Brno has been part of the stoba Group since 2016 and is our Center of Excellence for unique hard machining technology for processing valve surfaces and profiles. What makes this technique special is that it is an extension of technology from the watch industry. Today, it provides us with highly precise surfaces with extremely low tolerances.

The Brno location offers all kinds of possibilities for further development. The city is very popular - especially among young people: Roughly 80,000 of the approximate 450,000 inhabitants are students. According to the ranking of the British company Quacquarelli Symonds, which regularly selects the best university cities based on student evaluations, Brno ranks 6th in the world, ahead of cities like Boston, London, and New York.

Innovation from young talent

For this reason, we at stoba Brno count on very close collaboration with students and universities. For instance, we are part of the university’s Technology Center, CEITECH, and conduct research there together with students from various departments on topics and innovation of the future in the area of hard machining. With Petr Koutný, Managing Director of Precision Technology in Brno, as a member of the Expert Circle, the plant in Brno has been successfully linked with the Technická University since 2013. Several colleagues started at stoba Brno as graduates and are still working with us! Our collaboration with three vocational schools specializing in machining, electrics, pneumatics, and automation regularly produces knowledgeable young talent who join stoba.
And that’s not all: At our site, several students from the Technology and Quality departments are actively involved in process optimization and in assuming important tasks.

This allows our Brno location to not only create excellent basic conditions to assume demanding tasks but also to set up suitable and highly motivated engineering teams for a wide range of projects in the shortest amount of time possible. stoba Brno is in a position to shape innovation and actively drive technological progress in keeping with our motto ‘committed to progress’.

Here are a few past sample projects that have demonstrated this:

  • A project for manufacturing high-precision components in large-scale production will be supported by the European Union because of its general as well as technical complexity.
  • Together with an American provider of FEM-based simulation software, our team developed a geometric design to enhance cutting processes for a special tool designed by stoba.
  • We are not just interested in components: Together with stoba Customized Machinery in Memmingen, our team conducted a pilot project on automation for the stoba Group. With the assistance of artificial intelligence, the quality is monitored online in split seconds and reported. For this purpose, our colleagues at stoba CM in Memmingen built installations, which were tested in Brno and integrated into serial production there. Their deployment makes the stoba Group the leading provider of specialized machines both in the control and optimizing of processing techniques.
