From Backnang into the wide world - Our trainees abroad!

The traineeship at stoba is something very special. In addition to educational content about the company, culture and technology, the international exchange during the traineeship at stoba is a key highlight. "In Addition to our biggest location in Backnang, the trainees should also get to know our international locations in order to strengthen their relationships with our international colleagues and gain even more expertise," says trainee manager Markus Gebhardt, explaining the background. "After the corona pandemic, we were finally able to send four young talents out into the world to get to know more about stoba."

These four - that's Tobias Hochrein and Daniel Wolf (both: training as mechatronics engineers), who traveled to Small Dole, UK and Timo Kühnle and Leon Kopp (both: training as machinists), who visited the Czech site in Brno.

In the UK, the first challenge started immediately after their arrival: driving on the left! From Gatwick, it went on to Small Dole, where after a short safety briefing and a tour, they started working: "Our main tasks for this time were to support the maintenance team, as well as the engineering team in all areas. We also gained insights into quality assurance and logistics, as well as ECM processing and maintenance," the two describe their work. They were able to learn in depth about the composition of individual components of a Mikron Multistep, as well as a better understanding of the replacement of the fixture and replacement within the ECM process of the anode/cathode.

There was also a lot to do in Brno. After the welcome, the two first dived deep into the technologies, machines and capabilities of the Czech site with concrete questions. "We also helped with specific projects. For example, we measured finished precision parts and helped update the maintenance schedule," Timo Kühnle and Leon Kopp recount their excursion to the Czech university town. The contact and cooperation with the colleagues on site was not neglected - " we had many conversations and great input".

The trainees were not only able to cultivate their English language skills in the UK - leisure time in nearby London and beautiful Brno was not too short.

Getting to know each other is particularly important for the team spirit in the company and the cooperation between the seven stoba sites. Tobias Hochrein and Daniel Wolf appreciate this great opportunity. "It felt like being part of a big family," Tobias Hochrein reports about his assignment abroad. The stoba family is represented internationally and this is lived through this experience.
